The Operations Supervisor – Cleaning Services is responsible for day-to-day supervision of cleaning operations, ensuring service delivery meets contractual, quality, safety, and client satisfaction standards across assigned sites.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Supervision
– Supervise daily cleaning activities across assigned facilities (commercial, residential, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use).
– Ensure cleaning schedules, task lists, and SOPs are strictly followed.
– Conduct daily site inspections and quality audits.
– Monitor attendance, deployment, and productivity of cleaning staff.
– Staff Management
– Lead, train, and motivate cleaning operatives and team leaders.
– Allocate manpower based on workload and client requirements.
– Ensure staff grooming, uniforms, and PPE compliance at all times.
– Handle minor disciplinary actions and escalate issues when required.
Quality & Compliance
– Ensure compliance with HSE standards, method statements, and risk assessments.
– Monitor correct usage of cleaning chemicals, tools, and machinery.
– Ensure COSHH / MSDS compliance for all cleaning products.
– Report and investigate incidents, accidents, or near misses.
– Client Coordination
– Act as the main point of contact for clients on site.
– Attend client meetings, inspections, and audits when required.
– Address client complaints promptly and implement corrective actions.
– Ensure SLA and KPI targets are consistently met or exceeded.
– Materials & Equipment Control
– Monitor consumption of cleaning chemicals, consumables, and equipment.
– Raise material requisitions and ensure proper storage.
– Ensure cleaning machines are well-maintained and reported for repair when needed.
Reporting & Documentation
– Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
– Maintain attendance records, inspection checklists, and logbooks.
– Support management with data for performance reviews and invoicing where required.
– Skills & Competencies
– Strong leadership and people-management skills
– Good knowledge of commercial cleaning methods and equipment
– Understanding of HSE, COSHH, and safe work practices
– Problem-solving and decision-making ability
– Good communication skills (verbal and written)
– Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple sites
Qualifications & Experience
– Diploma or certificate in Facilities Management, Cleaning Operations, or related field (preferred)
– Minimum 3–5 years of experience in cleaning operations
– At least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
